Henry Tram
Henry is a senior physio at Recovery State, with over 15 years of experience working across musculoskeletal, sporting, and rehabilitation settings. He has a particular interest in conditions that require detailed mechanical reasoning and problem solving, and enjoys managing tendinopathies, shoulder injuries, and low back pain.
Henry takes a practical and hands-on approach to physiotherapy, combining detailed assessment, movement analysis, and load management principles to better understand the underlying drivers of pain and injury. He focuses on identifying pain triggers, overload mechanisms, and movement patterns, then building clear and achievable rehabilitation plans tailored to each individual’s goals, lifestyle, and activity levels.
He routinely employs manual therapy, education, strength and conditioning principles in his treatment approach, however, when appropriate will also tiral bracing/taping, dry needling, mechanical/postural adjustment and orthotic supports to assist in achieving outcomes. Henry provides tailored return-to-sport and return-to-activity programming, and also treats conditions such as BPPV (vertigo).
Henry believes successful rehabilitation comes from helping people clearly understand their condition, regain confidence in movement and loading, and develop consistency within a realistic rehabilitation plan. He values honest and collaborative care, and enjoys working together with patients to problem solve injuries while adapting management plans based on real-world outcomes and patient response.
Throughout his career, Henry has worked with a range of sporting organisations including community football, soccer, netball, and volleyball programs. He spent 10 years working with the Australian Women’s Volleyroos as tour physio and head physiotherapist, and has also toured with the Vietnamese Women’s National Volleyball Team during a European qualification campaign. In addition to team coverage, Henry has delivered presentations on injury management, conditioning, and load management for volleyball programs including Volleyball Australia National Development Program, Caulfield Grammar, and local volleyball academies.
Henry has completed a Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy through La Trobe University and has additional training in dry needling.
Outside of the clinic, Henry enjoys spending time with family and friends, weekend runs that finish at a good local cafe, and staying active through tennis and hockey when life allows. He also enjoys gardening, particularly tinkering with new tools and techniques — usually with a coffee in hand.
